Words We Speak 16″x36″ Acrylic on Canvas
In this particular piece I painted a timber wolf howling with the sun setting and the moon out. When the wolf feels emotions or needs to communicate with its pack members s/he howls. Most people feel a connection to this kind of image, humans themselves may howl out in pain or communication. Moreover, people also live in small packs, we are closely connected with small groups.
There has been a bond between wolfs/dogs and humans for thousands of years. Linking these animals as one of our first non human counterparts. The wolf is symbolic to me for independence. The wolf also signifies humans abilities to befriend and respect species different from us.
The wolf has been a guiding spirit of mine since a child, I always return to painting the wolf.
